Is check scanning discontinued?

I recently downloaded the Paypal Here app.  I read that you can take a picture of a check in order to deposit it.  I enter the order and click "Charge", then I clickd "Check".  It asks if I want to enter a memo or check number.  Then when I click "Next", it just says "Payment Complete" and asks if I'd like a receipt.
All the Paypal Help I read just says stuff like "You can record checks", but doesn't say anything about scanning them anymore.

If you have a UK Account, the cheque scanning feature was omitted from the app becasue of legal issues.

Thank you for your reply.  I am in the USA though. No cheques here! LOL.  Hoping someone can help out.

"As of June 12, 2014, we have discontinued the availability of check scanning. We recommend you stop scanning checks immediately, and start depositing them at your bank."

That sucks.  I still get website shoppers who would rather send a check. Figures they do it right when I decide to try it!
