I'd like to give my customers the option to leave a tip on top of the invoice total, but it doesn't seem to be possible. Is this true? (I've seen a few threads saying it is, but those are all at least 3 years old and I'm hoping things have changed since then.)
Adding another voice here to say that this is Needed! I refuse to ask customers if they would Like to tip, but when people pay cash I do get tips often. So i'm certain i'm missing out on money when I allow card payments through pay pal. Please consider this option! These days, every penny counts.
Yes, I agree that this option is needed. I've spent a goodly amount of time figuring out how to do this. I can have options for small medium and large tips, but no opton for the customer to put in an amount of his or her choosing. When I pay on the political site ActBlue, I can add a tip for them.
I think it's better to set the price as a function of actual cost and demand. Tipping creates issues with tax filing and book keeping, and creates dysfunction in a team where members don't receive equitable pay for their efforts like in restaurants, "front of house" vs "back of house".
