You can't close your PayPal Credit while you have debt. It may be wise to get a lower bank loan to pay it. Eventually PayPal Credit will sell your debit to a collector and the collector will come for the money. Once the debt is sold the interest will no longer accrue.
Seems like it would be a good time to stop buy with PayPal funds and use them for your debt. It might to time to find a credit counselor to help you manage your total finances.

No creditor stops the interest charges and other fees just because you close the account. If you did, you were lucky. Your account would have to go into default or collections first. You still have to pay interest and any fees as you pay down your debit on a closed account. Closing account with a balance just means that you can't make new transactions on it.
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
