Difficulty connecting PayPal for donations on campaign site on SquareSpace

The website is done. PayPal set up. Linked PayPal in SquareSpace and in my SquareSpace account it says it is connected to PayPal and ready to accept e-commerce. But when I click the "donate" button, I get an error message:

Payments Not Connected   This store has not yet set-up payments. Checkout is disabled.

I don't know what I have missed! SquareSpace help says this is a PayPal issue.

What type of Donation item button code are you using - the HTML Form version or the email text link version ??

We used HTML coding for DONATE button.

Not sure if SquareSpace accepts inserted HTML Forms - you would need to check on that.  If they don't, then you would need to use the email or text version of the code.

Just in case - here's how:

Assuming you have a PayPal Business account.

* Login to your account.
* Select on Tools.
* Click on All Tools.
* Click on PayPal Buttons.
* Choose the Button type you want to make.
* For example:  Buy Now.
* Click on Select Button.
* Enter the info you need.
* In step 2 you have the option to save the code at PayPal or not.
* When finished with all the details.
* Click Create Button.
* On the next screen you will see the generated code.
* Click on the Email tab - that will display the code you need.
* Click on Select Code - then copy and paste the code in your email or document.
* Done.

 

Note, the "Email" tab will not be available if have included drop down selections or text boxes in your item button code.    This is because you cannot include drop down selections or text boxes in a Text or Hyperlink.
