First time sending international invoice

Hello - I am in the USA and sent an invoice for an online product to a customer in Brazil. I sent the invoice as I would to anybody in the US, he said he was getting an error message when trying to pay it.

Are there any additional steps I need to take or is this a user error on his part?

Additionally, how do I know exactly what the fees are going to be?

Thank you

This means that the buyer will need  to pay to convert local currency to US$ so that you get the payment in US$.  I think your only fee would be the 4.4% plus $0.3.  The buyer may not like the idea of paying the convsion and the money option may also be restricted int he buyer's country.

Thank you. What action do I need to take? Should I simply adjust the currency on my own invoice, will that solve the problem?

First, check out the currency and selling issues for Brazil.  Does Brazil permit residents to purchase internationally with local currency?

Next, is your item permitted to be imported into Brazil?

The simplest method and my recommendation is to send the invoice in $US and let the buyer figure out details on the local end.

You could also do your own research on how PayPal works in Brazil.

Persoanlly, it would just be too much risk for me to ship when the buyer can't figure out what to do.

Thank you for your response. There is no physical item being shipped - the buyer is purchasing skype guitar lessons and then an online guitar lesson program.

You really should read up on PayPal buyer and seller protection policies.  It looks like you are going down the route to lose money.

There is no seller protection for virtual items.   This means the buyer is likely to file a dispute for non-receipt and get an easy refund.

Thank you for the heads up. I haven't had any problems yet. There's plenty of easy record of the digital items being sent and used.
