I am completely baffled. I have good standing, and more than enough in mr paypal Credit account. HSN tells me PayPal refuses payment. I go to PayPal who insist HSN will not accept their payments. I uses PayPal on everything but HSN, I know it's working. I saw advice about needing to delete Accounts with merchants. HSN will not let me cancel PayPal, it directs me to PayPal. I am at a total loss, and have climbed the support rungs with both. Help!

PayPal Credit is not avialable and PayPal has the right to select an alternate payment method when necessary to reduce business risk.

PayPal Credit will show as available at time of purchase when all qualifications are met.  Always keep sufficicent funds in your backup funding account in case PayPal Credit is declined.

Good point, however HSN does accept PayPal Credit, and neither company is helpful in explaining why in December it works, now in April, it does not.  I tend to believe PayPal, having worked with the for a long time, and cannot figure out why HSN won't allow me to remove my PayPal account, and insists the PayPal do so. PayPal hasn't been able to figure what HSN is talking about. I have no ongoing payment arrangement, etc so they have nothing to remove and no way to cancel HSN from my account.

PayPal will not disclose details about its risk model for offering and no offering PayPal Credit at time of purchase.

What you can do establish a good history of PayPal Credit.  Use it for small purchases when available.  Pay off early and completely and then make a new purchase when offered.  Good credit history is the base for more credit offerings.

Again, solid advice, but not an answer to my question. Is it possible to remove HSN from PayPal. I am ready to buy , they have a pop-up that says I have to talk with  PayPal, my purchase is declined. (I have hundreds of dollars in my Paypal account, both in my PayPal account, and the attached bank account.). Both companies insist the other is in the wrong, HSN says PayPal was declined, I go to PayPal, plenty of money. Their Customer Service assure me I cannot change my account with HSN. I send screenshots.  At this point I go up a level of customer service at  PayPal, they can't figure it out. I then escalate at HSN. Each side says it's the other. I am more than happy to try anything, I don't understand HSN, immediately after getting declined at HSN, and can use PayPal at other sites.

I'm confused.  How is HSN linked to PayPal?  Is HSN a financial institution?  What kind of HSN account do you have?

It's an on-line store, The Home Shopping Network.  This is why I don't understand  why I have to do this through PayPal.

Not all businesses accept PayPal as a payment source.  Big businesses don't need PayPal as they process payments through major credit card processors.  This you just use your credit card, even a PayPal MasterCard.

Did your issue ever get resolved?  I am having the exact same issue.  I went to buy something on HSN and it had paypal as an option, so I chose paypal, but then kept getting an "order error."  I am then told that I need to remove paypal because they don't accept paypal (well, why on earth did HSN offer me paypal to begin with?).  I was told I need to remove paypal from HSN in order to make the purchase, but HSN, like you, said I need to do it through paypal.  Paypal said that is not the case, I need to delete it through HSN.  I am totally confused and not sure how to make my purchase now.  If you did get resolution, would you mind posting it here?  This seems way too difficult to buy an item.  Thank you!  Jill
