I am selling an I phone and someone contacted me that they wanted it. They wanted to pay me via Paypal and have me ship it out of the country. I gave my Paypal info and received a confirmation e mail that the money has been paid but will not be released until they receive tracking information. I am not going to send anything until I receive payment. Is this a usual way of doing business with Paypal, any help will be greatly appreciated

THIS IS A TYPICAL PAYPAL SCAM.
They encourage you to use paypal and often ask you to send the item as a gift to a relative somewhere often Nigeria.
You will get/got a "fake" email that looks as though it is from paypal.....it isn't.
It will say the buyer has paid ...you won't have been paid.
They will tell you that the payment is released when you provide paypal with a tracking/shipping number......this won't happen.
They also threaten legal action...have a laugh at that one and ignore it as its rubbish.
Paypal NEVER tell you to send trackable, they advise it for seller protection etc but it is not compulsory.
Paypal NEVER tell you to send an item before the payment is showing in your paypal account.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

This is the usual way for scammers to do business and you almost fell for it. Scammers send a spoofed email and the seller trusts the email rather than verify that there is no transaction in the PayPal account. They can even send fake screen shots to prove payment.
Never rely on emails for confirmation; always check your PayPal account on a computer.
Posting an iPhone for sale on the internet is like sending out an invitation for a scam. Selling an iPhone is EXTREMELY risk; it is very high risk of fraud by both buyer and seller. Even if you get a valid PayPal payment, be prepared for a dispute and potential loss. iPhone buyers are very engenious to get a free phone.
