braintree v.zero Express Checkout country restrictions

Since the normal PayPal APIs are rather ancient, I'd like to use the modern JavaScript APIs of the braintree v.zero SDK.

According to the documentation, usage is restricted to certain countries. However, the docs are unclear with regards to

- which countries the restrictions apply exactly and

- whether they apply to merchants only or to both merchants and customers.

In the v.zero SDK docs here

https://developer.paypal.com/docs/bt-vzero-overview/

and here

https://www.braintreepayments.com/faq#

only *merchants* are mentioned, and the countries comprise United States, Canada, Australia, Europe, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and New Zealand.

But here is also this doc about Express Checkout based on v.zero SDK:

https://developer.paypal.com/docs/accept-payments/express-checkout/ec-vzero/client-side/javascript/v...

that restricts usage to merchants *and* customers, and also restricts the European countries to France, Germany, and Italy.

Does that mean that v.zero SDK is available in whole Europe, if the merchant is based there, but the Express Checkout is more restricted? What sense would such a restriction have? Or are the Express Checkout docs just outdated?

I'm confused.
