payment from multiple people

Hi all,
This seems like a pretty basic question but I'll throw it out here for quickest response and resolution. I am a freelance photographer/videographer and have used PayPal for a number of years. I know how to email an individual customer a PayPal invoice so that they can make payment to my PayPal account with credit card. I've recently run into a situation where I have videotaped a dance recital for a company. There was clearly a miscommunication or misunderstanding on the companies part on how I was to be paid. They are now telling me that they will have each individual parent who would like a DVD of the recital, send me a check (as in, do the entire production for us and if people want to purchase a DVD, THEN you'll get paid.... maybe a little... or maybe not). Well this is different than how I normally work with companies obviously. I have always had the company pay my fee in full, either a deposit up front and the balance on delivery or, with repeat customers, payment in full on delivery. That puts the onus on them to collect money from individual parents, which takes the financial risk away from me. I don't accept personal checks from individuals. That is one of the reasons I use PayPal in the first place. So, in trying to resolve this in the most efficient, courteous and diplomatic way possible, without getting into a big dispute (which never ends well), I thought maybe creating a web page with a paypal link to purchase a DVD would be possible. I've never really done e-commerce so I'm not familiar with how it all works. In the mean time, all post production on this project has stopped and will not move forward until I receive at least 75% of my fee.
Again, there may be a simple PayPal solution here. Any input on how to put this together?
Thanks.
D

There is no simple solution other than send a PayPal invoice to each buyer. You will need to contact each buyer to determine the sale.
In my opinion, I'd just accept checks--and never do business with that company again.

why not reiterate your policy and politely ask them to collect the checks from these parents and pass on to your with their name and address so you can cash them and send each a DVD.
of course if the checks bounce, you will pay NSF,BUT It is better than having each parent send you payment via Paypal.
if NSF,then ask this company to collect the fund from these rubber bouncers.
