If I link my credit or debit card to my PayPal account, does that mean I can use my debit card to access my PayPal account?
Ex.: I purchase something with my linked debit card, will it withdraw from my PayPal account?
In addition, if I link a prepaid Amex (or other) gift card to my PayPal, can I use that like a credit card?

You can link a bank account OR a debit card OR a credit card to your paypal account.
Then when you pay you can see the one paypal is going to use to take the payment OR you can click on change to select another card etc.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

no,it would come out of your debit card, not paypal fund.
but if you have a Paypal business account ,you can apply for a Paypal busienss debit card and when you use it as a credit card to buy,you get 1 % cash rebate from paypal.
The fund would come out of your paypal balance backed by bank account linked to your Paypal account, not another credit card or debit card.

There is also the Paypal prepaid debit card which would cost you 4.95 a month to maintain, you can sweep money from your Paypal account to that card and vice versa
