Am I being scammed?

I have recently put my computer up on craigslist and asking for 400 and somebody offered 500 to ship it out of state (I am in Illinois and they are in Miami and want me to ship it to Nigeria). I thought "Wow 100 more than asking, something must be up." They have been texting me, asked me to send a money request, I did and got an email from PayPal in my main mailbox showing that I sent a money request. Now he says that he sent the 500 and I checked my PayPal account and it still has the same balance and the 500 confirmation is in my spam box and  is not from PayPal and is marked as it might be a phishing scam. I notified the buyer of the situation and how I believe they may be scamming me and they got very angry. In the email it states tha I will not recieve the 500 until I submit proof of shipment. I know all the signs point to scam but I want to cover all my bases and get a second or even third opinion on the situation. Thank you in advance!

THIS IS A TYPICAL PAYPAL SCAM.

They encourage you to use paypal and often ask you to send the item as a gift to a relative somewhere often Nigeria.

You will get/got a "fake" email that looks as though it is from paypal.....it isn't.

It will say the buyer has paid ...you won't have been paid.

They will tell you that the payment is released when you provide paypal with a tracking/shipping number......this won't happen.

They also threaten legal action...have a laugh at that one and ignore it as its rubbish.

Paypal NEVER tell you to send trackable, they advise it for seller protection etc but it is not compulsory.

Paypal NEVER tell you to send an item before the payment is showing in your paypal account.

Delete any emails and ignore the scammers.
