Can I file a dispute I got scammed for $500 on f&f....

I just recently got scammed too because: I rarely use paypal, so when the seller told me to send him the money he just said friends and family.....I typed it into google logged in and it took me straight to the f&f page. I sent the money but it put it as an e-check through my bank account on the 5th of july 2016.....The money went out of my account on the 6th....and I told the guy to cancel it on the 7th because I had asked him to give me proof that he had sent some phones I wanted to buy from him but he didn't, so i told him to cancel the money transfer since I read after that only the reciever can do and he didn't respond.....Today I went to talk to the bank and they said that they can't get the money back since it's already been sent out..(that the stop shoud've been put before the money went out on the 6th)....the only way that they can actually go under investigation is if the reciever says that he didn't recieve the money, but my bank statements show otherwise.....so my paypal shows that he claimed the money too.....I texted him to ask "did you get the money" and he still hasn't responded.............I'm just so gutted that people can actually do this to others an cheat them out of their hard earned money. 😞

Hi, “gift” or “personal” payments are intended as transfer of funds from family or friends to one another. For this reason, there is no processing fee when payment is made with bank or PayPal balance.

On the other hand, as it is a “personal” payment, there is also no Buyer protection as no goods or services should have been exchanged.

If he was not a close mate or family member you should never use that option as it enables the seller to evade his paypal fees and negates your buyer protection at the same time.

Scam sellers often ask for payment that way as they know this.

Your only hope is if you funded your paypal payment via a credit card then contact your card issuer and see if they will help you.

His ad on ebay said to contact him through a cell phone number due to scammers placing a high bid on items....., so I did....then our messages were through text/ and some through direct ebay messages.

Through text, he told me to send the money now if I wanted a deal of 3 phones. and to send the money throufh f&f on paypal like I stated before.

Now he won't answer my ebay, or textx messages

As i said above nothing you can do really.

Any seller that advertises on ebay and then does not want you to do the deal via ebay is very suspicious.

If you funded the payment with credit card, file a dispute with your credit card.  If you funded the payment with a bank account, you are out of gas and can not gat your money back.  NEVER send money for goods & services with Friends & Family payment.  The seller is not supposed to ask you to do that, they are breaking PayPay rules and they can be banned from using PayPal.  You can tell PayPal about it so they can investigate.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
