Can't send money to Russia?

I keep trying to send a friend money to russia but can't and have to use Western Union. But he can send money to me. I've tried another Russian email address and it keeps saying "We're sorry, but we can't send your payment right now."

Why is this?

It's a joke.  Even Paypal customer service is clueless. At least the dunce that I talked to.  You can't do it.  And if you could, the friend/family recipient cannot transfer that money into her/his bank account to turn it into cash..i.e    only available for paypal merchant transactions.  In the us and elsewhere of course, you can
do that anytime you please.  I'll have to hit Western Union --questionable at best.

Yep, same problem.  I got the generic error message on their website about there being an error.  Then got the run around via the automated email support, so I called and was able to talk to a human in a foriegn country and he was clueless and told me to try a different service other than paypal to send money to Russia.

I've had the same problem. It seems Paypal is not transfering money to Russia. Neither for family or business.

i've tried to buy something from a russian supplier and I couldn't. Ithoguht was my problem but after many attempts and phone calls with Paypal I was informed about that. a pit they don't make it clear to customers about those restrictions.

Argh! Having the same problem. It just keeps flagging my transaction with a try again message. Would be nice if PayPal would update their alert to say that payments are not allowed in Russia right now instead of making it look like we should keep re-trying to send the $. Glad I found this - I'd still be trying to get it to send.

I tried to send $ to a Russian friend who just set up an account without a problem on her end. I get the same you cant send money now error on my end. Called CS and they had no answer. They had me link a credit card to my account, that did not work either. VERY annoying. Paypal security needs to keep their employees updated with restricted countries so everyone is not wasting their time spinning wheels.

I sent money to Russia twice last week via PayPal - I had no issues. I had a friend's daughter's email sent money to buy flowers and a second transaction for a birthday present. One for $100 another for $200. No problem at all

Well tht is the most ridulous thing i have heard of. Is it because of sanctions??? My wife is in Russia now and needs money. Uff!

Paypal states that Russian government regulators are the ones who restrict and prevent such transactions. Therefore, It is not a PayPal issue.

All paypal CS told me was to try again later. I even spoke to a supervisor who said nothing about any problems.
