Craigslist post for selling vehicle

Hello.

I've listed a vehicle on Craigslist this afternoon, and within an hour I received a contact from an individual claiming to be deaf--- the reason why he texted me, versus calling (although, I'd set up email as a primary contact, with texting as secondary),

He asked me a couple of questions, and then asked for my paypal account id (email), so he could deposit the money.

within 45 minutes, I received 4 emails, having the full appearance of being from paypal, showing that the money had been deposited, but when I logged onto my paypal account--- not using any links given by the emails-- I did not see any activity, and having just checked a few minutes ago, I still don't see any deposits.

With this, I began making Google inquiries, and looking for a business which he provided a name for. I found nothing. The name,

At this point, I'm really concerned. I've not divulged any other information about myself, telling them that I wanted to make the contact myself, instead of giving them my address. He provided me with an email address, which I have not yet sent anything. Thankfully, it's late sunday evening, so I have a few hours on my hands to deal with this.

I sure hope someone who's had experience with this kind of thing is available.

Let me know if having the discussion will help. I've been able to save a copy as an xml file, and can edit it if needed--- unless you'd be willing to read all the xml tags, from the bottom to the top.

Please help.

TYIA.

Car/ Large Item Scam.

Be VERY careful selling cars/large items if the buyer is keen to use paypal and states they are working abroad or sending to a friend etc and need a shipping agent to pick it up..

You then get a FAKE paypal email saying you have been paid extra so you can pay the shipping agent for them via western union and the payment is released to you after you have done that.

It is a scam to get that western union /money order payment, they don't want your car and the shipping agent is just a scam to get that payment.

They are nearly always in Nigeria or similar.

They also do another scam where they tell you the money is released once you send an item trackable........don't fall for that one either.

Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Good morning.

THank you for the response.

I've just checked my paypal account again, and still nothing.

I did a reverse phone number look up, and while the area code was a valid area code, apparently, the 228 prefix does not exist in that area code. I have filed with the I3C, and have sent the guy one last message.

Thank you again for your time and response.

Best,

SteveB.
