Does it withdraw from the bank automatically?

Today I made my first purchase with paypal, an episode of Doctor Who on Google Play. My current balance on Paypal is$0.00, with a tranfer from the bank still pending. Thus when making this purchase I knew I would need to withdraw from my linked bank account instead. I was startled, however, to find that there was no comfirmation message informing me of my null paypal balance and asking me if I want to instead withdraw from the bank. I've read that paypal does defult to bank account if there is not enough money in the paypal account, but I would think there would be a confirmation telling me as such.

What i'm asking is this: was the automatic withdrawl from my bank account the doing of Paypal, or Google? When money is in my paypal account and I buy something else in the Google play store, will it withdraw from my paypal account, or might google bypass this and go directly for my bank account (which in this instance would cause an undesirable overdraft)?

A thank you in advance for awnsers to these quesion 🙂

The system basically works automatically - there's no prompts for choices.

PayPal will first look at your PayPal Account balance, if you have insufficient funds, PayPal will then take the funds from your Bank Account. PayPal will do an instant transfer from your bank account assuming you have a current linked and confirmed credit card. If the card is not current or no card, then the transfer from your bank account to pay for the purchase can take a few days, possibly up to 4.

If you have a credit card and no bank account, then the credit card will be used. This all happens assuming you don't elect to choose a funding source. Note, If you have both a bank account and credit card, you can choose to pay with your credit card on the PayPal Checkout screens by using the pay with another source option. There you can select your card from the dropdown.

It is possible to pay using the funds in your Account balance and the remainder with a credit card however, you must first elect to pay with your credit card. Your available balance will be used up and the remainder is charged to your card. As this now looks like you've sent a single payment, you remain eligible for Buyer Protection. You would not be eligible for Buyer Protection, if you paid for the item with two separate transactions.

What you cannot do is split a single payment between 2 bank accounts, 2 credit/debit card accounts or a bank account and a credit/debit card account. In addition, you cannot split a single payment between 2 PayPal accounts.

Hi, I had made a purchase yesterday 01Mar2015 using my PayPal account. The transaction was for 79.90GBP and I had 12.50DKK in my paypal account. Now my paypal balance is -79.90GBP. My question is should I arrange to make a transfer for the amount of 79.90GBP via my bank account or will Paypal automatically withdraw 79.90GBP from my account.
Please note I have linked my bank account to Paypal.
