Force the use of Credit Card instead of Account Balance.

My matter is simple: why, WHY I'm forced to use the account balance instead of the credit card to make a payment? On some occasions, I'd like to keep my balance untouched by paying with my credit card. How can I do it? And if I can't, WHY?
