Foreign purchase with Paypal Credit (formerly Bill me Later)

I have been trying to make a purchase from a web site that is in Europe and charges in Euros. I was wanting to use my Paypal Credit account (formerly bill me later) but it won't allow me to where it is a foreign currency. I had read on this forum that "in the meantime, you may be able to use Bill Me Later to pay for international purchases using the PayPal Send Money feature.  Send Money allows you to pay for purchases by sending the funds directly to the recipient using their email address.  There is a fee to use Send Money for purchase transactions, which is 2.9% of the transaction amount plus $.30.  There is an additional 1% transaction fee for cross-border transactions.  All transactions that you initiate to an international recipient using Send Money will be sent in U.S. Dollars.  In order to use Send Money with PayPal and your Bill Me Later account, you will first need to link your Bill Me Later account to an existing or new PayPal account.." I have tried the Send Money feature and it does not give me the option of the Paypal credit account either. I was just wondering if this post is correct or if it has changed since this was posted and if there is any way to make a purchase with the paypal credit account other than asking the vendor to accept the payment in USD. Thanks for any help!

Bump.

I tried to order from a German seller, and PayPal Credit wasn't available to use.

Would I be able to use PayPal Credit to send money to an e-mail address of theirs so I can pay?

They're a small German retailer and it's perfume.

In U. S. I've used PayPal credit 6-month promotional from an Eastern European country as a payment for a PayPal invoice.

Purchasing from an Asian firm the approach was different.  I had to use the send money feature for a purchase using the e-mail address of the product manufacturing; the sender added the fee surchase to the product cost.  This purchase was not offered extended credit; just the regular credit with payment due with the first statement.

Suggest you have the seller send a PayPal invoice for the purchase.

Thre are various reasons why extended credit, or even regular, may not be available.  It could be PayPal risk managment restrictions or cross-border banking restrictions, or something else.

One thing that is important, however, is to NOT attempt to avoid fees by sending money for purchase using the "family/friend" option; this is jsut gift money.

The lady actually did try to send an invoice or w/e with PayPal manually using my e-mail address.

It still would not let me use PayPal Credit.

I even tried manually entering in an e-mail address myself, and it would not let me select PayPal Credit.

😕

Here's what you need to do. Have a friend in the US send you an invoice for the amount you need (make sure you add the 4% fee because it will take it out of your friends account and you will be short). Pay your friend's invoice with Paypal credit. Once they receive the money they can gift you the money back to you. Voila, you know have money in your paypal balance that you can use for internatonal purchases. You will get your 6 months too. It just costs you 4%, but it's worth it if you need the money fast for a foreign transaction.
