History of message sent with payment

I have sent payments with messages. Is that message visible to me anywhere. I can find records that I have sent payments but the record does not contain the notes that I had sent.

There was one message in the forum that implied that I as the sender of money do hot have a copy of the message that was sent with the money but the receiver does have a copy. Is this correct?
