How to refund an invoice

Hello, I was trying to sell an item to a person, but instead of him sending me money, he sent an invoice. Now it said i have paid an invoice but there was no negative number taken from my account. Every time i call paypal i get no where, i really need help please.

Minty is correct... the buyer sent you an invoice and marked it paid... the buyer is hoping you will be tricked into thinking he's paid for the item. 

It's a scam... you have not been paid.

ok, appreciate the reply. but im more concerned about if I payed for anything, because i read that invoices are a request for money. I got the email for the invoice and i clicked the"view and pay" section so im worried that i might have sent money.

The status of a PayPal invoice or money request can be... Pending, Canceled, "Marked as paid" or Paid.  The new PayPal web site is not showing the "Marked as paid" status... you need to use the classic site to see that status.

Log in to your PayPal account, click on the "Classic Site" link (bottom of page) and then click on the "All activity (with balance)" option to look at your account activity.  The "with balance" view will show (in the right hand column) your PayPal account balance after each transaction and should make it easier to see if you paid an invoice or received payment for an invoice.

Change the date range to cover whatever period is appropriate.  You can view all activity since you opened your PayPal account.

That's not the "with balance" version of the page, but it still looks good... you haven't been charged... it would say "Paid" if you had paid the invoice.
