No "Cancel" button.

I recently sent a payment to someone, and realized I sent it as an eCheck on accident. I added my card to make it instant, but it's still saying uncleared. I tried to cancel, but there is no cancel button. How can I cancel this payment/transfer from my bank and then add the money so it's instant?

From Help:

You can cancel only unclaimed payments. If the payment is complete, you can contact the person who received the payment and request a refund.

To cancel an unclaimed payment:

  1. Log in to your PayPal account.
  2. Click History.
  3. Click Cancel under Order Status/Actions.
  4. Click Cancel Payment next to the unclaimed payment.

Note:

  • A payment is automatically cancelled if the recipient doesn’t accept it within 30 days.
  • If you paid with a credit card, it can take up to 30 days for a refund to appear on your card statement.

If you want to request a refund for a completed payment, here’s how to find a seller’s contact information:

  1. Log in to your PayPal account.
  2. Click History.
  3. Click Details next to the transaction.

Since you sent an eCheck, it can take 3 to 5 business days to clear, but again, you can't cancel it unless it goes unclaimed.  Hopefully the receiver will understand and work with you.

He hasn't claimed it, because the money hasn't transferred from my bank yet. He has no way of cancelling it, either. I just want to cancel the payment andt  try again. I'm guessing since I added my card AFTER I created the payment, it won't make the payment come through instantly until it's been cancelled and we do it again.

You'll have to wait to see what happens.

I too am having this problem.  They say go to History and there should be a cancel button.  There is an "Order Status" button where, according to the rep, the cancel button is SUPPOSED to be but it's not there.  They said they are not authorized to cancel transactions and suggested I contact my bank and ask them not to allow the transaction to go through.  But the bank will not guarantee that they will catch the transaction.  The money is no longer there so, if they don't it means I am going to get hit with an NSF fee and it will be Paypal's fault.

I don't understand how you can sit there and send us directions that obviously are not available.  Everyone on here has tried it and THERE IS NO CANCEL OPTION
