I am selling a car on Craigslist. Even though it runs, I will ask the buyer to sign a release form saying the car is "as-is" and "being sold for parts without any warranties." I would meet the buyer in person and ask to see his driver's license. I would only accept Paypal from him if his name matched the name on the Paypal account. (I won't take Paypal from some scammer overseas who might be using a stolen account or planning to freeze funds and request WU.) Could the buyer place a chargeback through his credit card company (Visa, MasterCard, etc) even though I have the As-Is documents and transfer of title documents? If so, would I be able to fight the charge back? A buyer of a vehicle can not freeze funds simply by asking Paypal correct? Paypal says there is no buyer protection for puchasing a vehicle (the exception would be a stolen account which I why I ask for ID).

There is no seller protection on paypal for motor vehicles either which is much more of the point as far as you are concerned.
So whilst as there is no buyer protection he could not raise a paypal dispute, he could still if he funded his paypal payment with a credit card do a chargeback and you would lose out as there is no seller protection to protect you.
Also why would you want to accept paypal and pay a big whack of a fee when you can ask the buyer for cash on collection???
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
