Split payments

[BEGIN]Welcome to the boards!

Currently, each payment can only have one funding source (barring a portion of it coming from your active PayPal balance).  That means that a transaction has to be fully supported by a single card.

You could split the purchase into two separate payments; however, you will not be covered under the terms of the Purchase Protection Program at that point.  Any time a buyer sends more than one payment for one item, the Purchase Protection program is voided.

However, since you mentioned splitting it between a bank and a card, here's a way to do it and still keep your protection. Use the Add Funds feature from your bank to beef up your PayPal balance.  Then, when you go to send the payment, select to pay from a card only.  Your available balance will be used up and the remainder charged to your card.  Since you've  now sent only a single payment, you remain eligible for the Purchase Protection Program in regards to having sent only a single payment!

So am I correct in assuming that if I load my PayPal account with, lets say $3000.00 from my linked bank account, and purchase an item on Ebay that costs $4000.00, using my linked credit card, PayPal will take the entire $3000.00 and then charge my card the rest?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

will this work with paypal credit(bill me later). i want to use the 6 month no interest. however the item i want is over my limit. will adding funds to my account mean they would use funds in my active account balance, then put the rest on my paypal credit line?  (Your available balance will be used up and the remainder charged to your card. Since you've now sent only a single payment, you remain eligible for the Purchase Protection Program in regards to having sent only a single payment!)

I'm sorry. but no. Paypal credit is using a different system unlike your normal credit card or bank account. this only applies to transactions being paid by either a bank account or credit card.

hope this helps!
