Transaction ID not recognised

I recently paid for items at SportsDirect.com. Because I didn't receive an order confirmation email I looked a bit further. Apparently they didn't receive my order yet the payment was affected nevertheless but remains in a pending status. I've tried contacting SportsDirect to cancel the Paypal transaction but they said the order does not exist, and I've tried going through the resolution centre but my transaction ID is not recognised by the system even though it appears on my transaction history. The payment is still pending and I would like to remove it all together, weird thing is that the transaction ID starts with a zero dash. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the community! 🙂

 

The transaction ID probably starts with an "O" which means that it's a PayPal Order.  This just means that an order was placed with that merchant and doesn't actually represent any funds moving out of your account.  The payment itself would show up as a separate line item with a different transaction ID. If you do see a separate entry for the funds being debited, then I would contact the seller to request that they void the order in their PayPal account.

 

If the merchant doesn't recognize the order on their end, it's unlikely that they would put the order through.  Eventually the order status will change from pending to expired or cancelled (the time frame can change depending on the merchant). Usually it's 29 days.  It's possible that the order has already been cancelled or expired by now.
