Hi CalinCrisan123,

Thanks for posting to the PayPal Community! I'm sorry to hear there have been problems with claiming money. Two common reasons for that are when an email address is unconfirmed and payment reviews. If someone sends money to an email address but it's not confirmed in your PayPal account, you won't be able to claim the funds until you confirm the email. Also, for the sake of security, payments may be held up to 72 hours so we can do a more thorough review. This is not a reflection on you! It's just PayPal's way of making sure transactions are safe and secure.

I hope this information helps! Thanks again for your question and thanks for being a part of the PayPal Community!

I have a problem with accessing my money (i say i but i am writing this on behalf of my grandad) i told him about paypal and opened an account last year but shortly after his checking account was hacked into and i am not certain if they accessed his paypal also but not long after it was limited he has just over $300 in his account which he has had to wait over six months to be able to access but the problem now is due to what happened with his checking account he closed it and no longer has a checking or savings account so is unable to withdraw his cash now is he able to cash a check with having no account i have repeatedly sent email for him to paypal asking for it to be possible for him to use his balance online (he would like to buy his grandson a gift) also asking for a proper reply from a person but for over a month now all he gets are generated email with instructions on how to withdraw to a checking account plus the fact he has had surgery for throat cancer so is unable to call, he can not understand why he isn't able to use his own money how he wants to he isn't exactly a youngster but with his health how it is at the moment i am more worried about how he is getting angry as he can not understand and keeps saying what is wrong with these people this is my god **bleep** dollars they have he even wanted me to call the cops ! How do i help him to retrieve his cash ? obviously he is in no fit state to go to open a new checking account plus he has stated he will never use one again he doesn't understand either how someone can hack into his checking account " it is a god **bleep** bank how can these people take over your account ?" and as i have said paypal are not helping at all by continuing to send generated mail, i am starting to think it would be easier to give him the $320 myself and wave goodbye to his cash in paypal, thank you in advance for any answers to this problem.

Hi Ronnie1,

If funds were sent to your grandfather's PayPal account we're happy to look into that for him.  Here's a helpful link about reporting unauthorized activity: http://bit.ly/1TqoCho.

Your grandfather can log into his account and click 'Contact us' at the bottom of any of our pages. He can also could reach out to us Twitter or Facebook and we would be happy to take a look into this for him.

No you have got it all wrong or i have put it across wrong, the payment sent to his paypal is fine that is not the problem, the problem is due to his checking account being hacked last year his paypal was limited "due to suspicious activity in bank account linked to paypal" they limited his paypal without asking about "the activity" in his bank account so he has had to wait since last summer to be allowed access to his cash but due to what happened with his bank he closed his bank account but now paypal have made him wait all this time and said he could only withdraw his paypal balance to his bank (which he no longer has) or he can be sent a check (which he can not cash due to not having a bank account) so his only other option is to spend his cash online but when he tried to paypal blocked the payment, all he is asking is now he finally can access his cash (and let us not forget here this IS HIS OWN CASH) he wants to be able to spend his balance online to buy a gift for his grandson as he doesn't have a bank to withdraw the money to, it is like paypal are making it impossible for him to spend it i have a feeling they are doing so due to what happeded to limit his paypal in the first place, they are making him pay for something that was not his fault and it is very hard to see him so worried as he does not understand why he can not spend his own cash online, i know i am wasting my time writing yet another mail and know the reply will be yet another 'the balance can be withdrawn to a bank account or we can send out a check" which has been the reply everytime for over a month but those options are no use to him nor can he go to open a new bank account he has recently had surgery on his throat, is it really to much to ask for an elderly man to be allowed to use HIS OWN CASH online ? I hate having to tell him again and again i am sorry Grandpa they said no again.

It looks like PayPal has offered a solution, but you will not accept the solution.  PayPal said "yes"; you said "no".

A check would be simple.  All he needs to do is endorse the check to you and you cash it in your bank.  There are places other than banks which cash checks.
