Will Paypal charge my credit card or current balance?

Hi guys,

I want to make a purchase online for a virtual item which I can afford already with my paypal balance. And I want to know whether it will charge my paypal balance (preferably) or the credit card I have on my account? And if it charges my paypal balance will the purchases STILL show up on the bank statement or will it just show on my purchase history.

If you guys can answer my question it would be so helpful! I kind of new to this so be gentle on me.

PayPal will first try to pay using your PayPal Account balance.  If you have insufficient funds in your Account balance to pay for the purchase, PayPal will then use your Bank Account.  If you don't have a Bank Account linked and confirmed, then your Credit Card will be used.  Normally Credit Cards are used for additional proof of ID and as a backup funding source when you are on a PayPal Checkout Screen.  You will see a record of the transaction in your Account Transaction History.

Ok but will it show up in my bank statement that I've made a purchase with my paypal account which is linked to that card? Because I have enough in my paypal balance anyway so it probably won't charge my card at all.

It shows in your bank statement as a withdraw by PayPal.

Ok, so it will still show in the statement I made a purchase on paypal even though I didn't use it? Oh and I think that I should mention I don't have a bank account linked, onyl a credit card. But what if I removed the card straight after the purchase?

What ever funding source you use, there will be a record of the transaction.  It's a moot point removing a funding source after a purchase.  That only affects your account verification status.

If the payment happen through your PayPal balance, it will not show in your bank statment. It will only be shown in your PayPal transaction history. If the money pulled from your bank / CC, then your bank or CC statement will have the reference to it.
