Accidental use of cancelled credit card

I used a (bank) credit card on file in my Paypal account to send a friend money.  The transaction shows as completed, in my Paypal account, and the $ showed up in my friend's Paypal account and was transfered out to her bank.  The problem is ~ I accidentally picked the wrong credit card from which to send the money ~ I'm almost 100% sure I had closed that particular credit card with the bank a while back (and had meant to remove it from Paypal but forgot.)  If so ~ if the credit card is closed, what happens next?  Does anyone have experience with something similar?

First, you need to check the bank credit card either online or by phone call to find out the status of the account.

Next, you'll just need to wait as the funding gets rejected an your PayPal account will be negative.  It might be wise to immediately transfer frunds from your bank account to PayPal to avoid the negative balance.  Once the balance is negative your account will be limited and you won't be able to do much with it until it is corrected by you.

Thanks DPCreations!  I don't have access to records pertaining to the cc in question, or I'd have contacted them first.  But, in ligth of your advice as to what is liable to happen, I went ahead and transfered the amount in question from my bank into my Paypal account.  That way, if the charge to the cc "bounces" there is $ they can use to cover it (I assume that's what they'd do) and there won't be a negative balance.

You made Paypal look bad,you should be kind and generous and transfer $1,000,000.00 to your Paypal account for your mistake.

Paypal will thank you and we will all thank you.
