Account required for online gaming to receive money

Hi All,

I've setup a Minecraft Server, for people to enjoy the online game in a multiplayer mode.  It seems to be quite successful so far, so I would like to offer you users the ability to purchase in game items to improve their gaming experience (within the EULA terms of Minecraft)

It seems that PayPal would be the logical choice to allow users to make either small donations (for the upkeep of the server) or payments for in game purchases.

I would like some advice from anyone who has done such a thing, for example;

1. Does the above scenario require a business account, and if so, what is the difference between a personal and business account?

2. Is the above secure?  As with a personal account, I assume it needs to be linked to a credit card or bank account, but as I want to accept payments from anyone, does that mean I am at risk?

3. How does PayPal deal with cross boarder transactions and currency conversions?  Who pays for the conversion, etc?

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

I don't think PayPal is the logical choice for your service as there is no seller protection for virtual item purchases.

Does that mean if I accepted a payment via PayPal the buyer could reclaim the money and I would have no come back?

Correct, as you would have no online tracking to show delivery of goods.

Thanks again.  It appears that the larger / more popular servers seems to accept PayPal, I wonder if they have found away to overcome this?  

I'm not looking to makes thousands (!), just maybe cover the cost of hosting the server per month.

I'm should add that I am based in the UK, if that makes any difference to the advice.
