A buyer purchased a pair of used toddler shoes from me. She messaged me today and said first they smelled like smoke, and then when I told her no one in my house smokes, she said it's a strong smell but she's not exactly sure what it is. The shoes did NOT smell when they were shipped, certainly not like smoke. Am I obligated to accept a return of an item that is in worse condition than when it was sent? If I don't accept a return, she will file a claim. However, what happens if I tell her she can return and I receive them in bad condition?

welcome to person to person buy and sell.
selling usd products expose seller to headaches and loss.
accept the return and refund ,not much you can do.
if you refuse, then venue like eBAY will refund for you without asking her to return, since no return means you dont want it back
