Can't refund buyer because payment is on hold. Help me.

Hello. I sold something on ebay a couple weeks ago and the buyer wants a refund of $57.15. When I went into my paypal account my balance was negative $57.15, so I added that amount to my account to refund the buyer and to get my account out of the negative. Now it says that the payment has been received but is on hold and I don't know why that is. The buyer hasn't gotten any notification from paypal yet and i'm starting to get nervous, thinking I didn't something wrong and i'll have to pay another $57.15 to fix this mess. Does the buyer have to do something on his end in order for the payment to go through or do I simply have to wait a few days before paypal gets it through, ebay says I have until this Tuesday to send the refund so i'm getting nervous. Any help would be appertained. Thank you.

Here's a photo of an example of my situation:

Payment holds can happen for a variety of reasons, but basically it's just to ensure the funds are available in case a problem arises with the transactions. If you click into the transaction details of that transaction you should see a link that allows you to process the refund, in which case the hold would be released and the refund would occur. Did you try that?

Log in to your PayPal account and click on Activity at the top.  Find the transaction in the list and click to view its details.  Then you should see a link to "Issue a Refund" as shown in this screenshot.

But I already refunded him when I added said amount to my negative balance. If I hit that refund button i'll be sending him the same amount again which means i'll be paying for this refund twice. What I need right now is a way to for the payment you see in the photo that's on hold to go through. I've already had to pay for this once I don't want to lose another 57 dollars over a mistake. Thanks.
