Cannot Receive Payments?

Hi. I have a PayPal India account and I cannot receive payments. When someone tried to send me a payment through my email address, he got an error like (not fully accurate): "Sorry, but the recipient cannot receive payments right now."

PayPal promises you just need an email account to receive money. They'll ping you an email and you just have to confirm your email address (aka make a PayPal account, perhaps?) to receive your money.

But then why I, having an account with a linked bank account, PAN, etc., cannot receive payment?

I do not have a linked credit card, which I think is causing the problem. Is it really so? Getting a credit card isn't very easy here. All my cards which are accepted worldwide, stamped VISA, and fully authenticated, are simply NOT accepted by PayPal. Like SBI Global card, which is verified by VISA.

I'm beginning my content writing service so there are a lot of people who'll need to send me money. So please help me with this.

In my resoultion center, I have two cases: Confirm your Credit Card and Cofirm your Address Proof. I can easily do the address proof thing, but I never added any credit card that PayPal wants me to confirm. Now suppose I:

1. Confim my address, 2. Remove the mistakenly added credit card details, then:

Will I be able to receive payments? Or a credit card is absolutely necessary? If it is, then is there any resource on PayPal documentation where I can find a list of accepted credit or debit cards that will enable me to receive payments?

Remember, I don't need online shopping, sending payments, etc. So don't go into too much details. Kindly propose me the shortest way to be eligible to receive money. Even if the above mentioned limits remain, it's okay.

Hi jaydeepdas,

Thank you for reaching out to us here. I'm sorry for the trouble you are experiencing. Due to a number of regulatory restrictions the ability to receive payments in India is different than it is in other countries.

PayPal does not provide domestic payments services in India. PayPal only provides international payments services. Therefore, you may not send payments to or receive payments from an Indian resident user with a PayPal account. However, you can still send and receive international payments. You can continue to use PayPal to shop online with over 8 million merchants internationally.

Additionally, Indian residents are not able to receive personal payments. If the user is trying to send the payment as a personal payment they would need to try re-sending as a goods/services purchase instead.

Lastly, there are 4 steps which must be completed in your PayPal account before you are eligible to receive payments:

1) Provide PAN (that can be validated within the national database for name and number match)
2) Confirm email address
3) Add bank account (India)
4) Provide Purpose Code (for withdrawals)

I know this is a lot and apologize for not being able to narrow this down more specifically for you, but I hope it helps!

I am facing same issue as well. I have completed all tasks but Paypal keeps on giving message in notification and does not allow to send or receive money. I can see others also faced this bug.

Has anyone received the solution. Guide me how to get this solved.

I have the same issue and I have reached your so-called customer care department many times regarding the issue I am facing. This is 20th time I am reaching out to PayPal. I have been very disappointed with the customer service they provide. I received payment from my overseas customer on 27th July and it is still not credited to my bank account. I have called the customer care number umpteen number of times and it is a pain to go through that call. Most of the times the voice messages just dont respond and whenever somebody picks up the call they would put me on hold and will never return. I am completely sick of reaching out to paypal again and again for the same issue. I fear that you will reverse the payment back to my client and I would not be able to do anything. Where is the payment? What is holding it back? I cannot manually withdraw too. What is the issue? Is the bank account any issue? Is it issue from my end or PayPal end? If it is at PayPal end when will it get resolved. The customer representative tells me that they have escalated the issue to the finance head of PayPal. Still I dont see any action. My service request no. is 390063363. PLease help me resolve this issue as early as possible!
