I just fixed this. The debit card will remain undefined if you did not confirm the card. The wallet page did not ask me to confirm the new card so I had to call Paypal C/S to talk to a person (press 0 instead of answering automated questions) and complete the confirmation process. She gave me a URL to go to, which you can try while logged in: ( www.paypal.com/mem-number ). Here, it showed my undefined debit and I clicked the button to confirm it. It said I will receive a $1.95 charge on that debit account in a day or two, and when you see it online in your bank activity, there will show a 4-digit confirmation number on that transaction. (I also received an email with instructions on how to complete the confirmation.)
Next, you can either login and click on the above URL to enter the conf#, or you can go back to the wallet page, click on that undefined debit and it will ask for your confirmation#.
