How to transfer funds from a US paypal account to a UK bank account?

Hello, 

I really need to transfer funds from my US paypal account to my UK bank account. However, UK banks don't have routing numbers, and paypal won't accept my IBAN, sort code, or swift code as routing numbers. What should I do?

Paypal is country specific so you have to open a paypal account in the country in which you reside and add an address / phone number / and bank accounts from within that country.

The only exception is U.S ex-pats can add their bank accounts to other countries paypal accounts (paypal is a U.S company so they allow their citizens to do this).

Wait, so you can transfer funds from a UK paypal account to a US bank account but not the other way around...? I'm a US ex-pat, and I want to transfer money from my US paypal account to my UK bank account. Is that possible? And if not, can I create a UK paypal account and transfer the money from my US paypal account into it? Or are there any other options? I need this money to pay rent ASAP!

US expats can add a US bank account to any other countries paypal account in the world (nearly).

They are the ONLY ones that can add their countries bank account to another countries paypal account.

They can only do this as Paypal is a U.S company and allows its expats to do this.

No other country can add their bank account to another countries paypal account apart from them.

If you are a U.S expat and are in the UK then you should have a UK paypal account and can attach a UK AND US bank account to it.

If you in the UK and trying to use a US paypal account then it won't work properly and you would not be able to add a UK bank account to it.

Well you are really supposed to only use a paypal account in the country that you are in.

So if you try and use a US paypal account in the UK Paypal security may kick in and want you to verify its you.

But as long as you still have your US mobile phone that is linked to your Paypal account active you should be ok when they send you verification.

You would also need to make sure that if the funds in your balance are in USD that you add that currency as a receiving currency on your UK paypal account and then you would need to convert it to withdraw it to your UK bank account (post back if you want to know how to do that).
