Hello, everyone.
I've recently been encountering a problem with paypal.I'm receiving payments in USD . I mainly work with clients from the US. Because of that, I've set my main and only currency as USD. My country of residence is Romania.
I have a long term client from whom I'm receiving payments on a permanent basis. The clients sends the agreed sum in USD, but in my account it shows up as converted to euros. I don't have an euro currency added to my account. The person sending the money also sends USD. The one and only currency I've added is in USD. It's happening for the third time now. It happened two times in a row, then received a payment from the same person in USD and now the last 2 transfers from the same person are being converted in Euros again.
It's very annoying. I'm already converting the amount to my local currency (romanian RON) when withdrawing to my card.
I'm basically forced to open a new currency in Euros just to receive a transfer that was made in USD, when my account is also in USD.
I'm going through exchange 2 times, instead of once.
Thank you,
Alex

Hi, everyone. Thank you for you replies.
I opened a ticked and talked on the phone to a customer representative.I received two different answers. During my phone call the representative says that the sender chose to send the transfers in euros , which in fact is not true.
In my ticket reply, another representative says that the transfer received by me was in USD, when in fact it appears as euros in my history. I decided to accept the transfer as it is, in euros, and open an euro currency for the money to appear in my balance.
Don't know what to thing of this situation anymore.
During this error with the automated conversion i lost aproximately 18 $. The exchange rate used by paypal to automatically change USD to EURO is much lower than the official one, used by banks. That's in addition to the second conversion when withdrrawing the money to my debit card, that's in Romanian RON, which I'm aware of and I understand it's normal.
This isn't the first case of this happening. It happened to other 2 transfers received from the same person in the US. For those two first transfers didn't really receive a clear answer from the support.
The last 2 transfers were bigger sums. That's why I decided to take measures and contact Paypal by all means of communication.
I'm still waiting for a clear answer from Paypal. No one from the customer service has been able to offer a clear explanation. The two answers I received are totally opposite. One is blaming the sender for not being careful and choosing to send Euro instead of USD and the other stating that I received USD and the transfer was sent in USD, when everywhere in my history these appear in EURO.
For any future transfers, I'll send an invoice first, as suggested by "sharpiemarker", to try and avoid this error and hope no one else would have to go through this.

I finally found the source of the problem.
It was the sender who chose to send the transfer in euro, by accident probably, as "sharpiemarker" also assumed in the first reply. The sender is probably new to Paypal and doesn't know all the details and options. Because of that, the sender lost a bit of money during this exchange and I received a bit less than I should have been. Guess the best option will be to send invoices to avoid any future misunderstandings.
Thanks for all the replies and sorry for the misunderstandings.

My bank account is in USD, my card is in USD, I receive USD in my PayPal account
BUT when I try to withdraw funds USD to my bank account - paypal say my bank account is in EUR???
It's funny. When I try to make a withdraw PayPal convert USD in EUR and charge me fee.
If I send EUR my bank has to convert the amount into USD because my account is in USD and will charge me again.
I could not find any currency option to edit my account
Anyone to have same or similar problem ?
