Money Sent - Canceled

Hello guys. I sent some money to my friend. I hadnt had money in my paypal balance so i used my Bank (Rabobank Netherlands) He said it wouldve arive in 7 days. So he cancelled the transaction. Now it says Money sent - Cancelled I've read that the money from my bank is going to be added to my Paypal Balance but WILL not transfer to my friends balance. Am i right or is this just a myth? If canceled prior to payment completing, the money will go to your PayPal account after it clears, not to the recipient.  Then you can transfer the money back to your bank account if you want.

How long does something stay in pending status? I tried to send money to my brother on Sunday but accidently misspelled his email. I cancelled the payment and tried again. The cancelled payment now says it's pending. I somewhat understand it being pending until Monday but it is now Tuesday and it is still in a pending state. PayPal has no problem taking money from my bank account quickly what is the hold up for returning it?  Any idea how long this takes?  Thanks.
