PP Debit Card being Rejected at Staples and CVS

Has anyone had problems with using their Pay Pal business debit card as a credit card at Staples or CVS?

I am using a PayPal business debit card with magnetic strip. The card readers have no problem reading the card, but when i switch to credit instead of entering a PIN (in order to get the 1% cash back), the terminals at Staples and CVS reject the card. Staples told me that their corporate office set the machines to reject cards with cash back programs.

Has anyone else experianced this problem?

Will getting a chipped card solve it?

A chip card will not change the fact the the merchant will not accept debit cards when used as credtid cards.  You must use the debit option with pin.  That's a choice the merchant makes.

If you want rewards then use a credit card with rewards.

cashback comes from Paypal, not Office staples.

But some merchant can tell you have a debit card and refuse to accept it as a credit card,AMZN does that too.

you know the fee the merchant has to pay is less with debit card.
