Huge amounts can trigger all sorts of unexpected consequences but I don't think the lack of a transction is one of them. The lack of a transaction means there is none. I think there is a problem with the initiation of the transaction, whoever did it.
If there were an issue about the amount you would see the transaction with restrictions.
Large amounts can trigger an investigation into your your own account and limit your account when PayPal asks for documentation about the reason for the large transfer. There can be holds before money is released. Your PayPal activities can be investigated to make sure your ID is accurate. Limitations would prevent withdrawal of funds.

No way of knowing as you haven't disclosed details of your business dealings nor transaction history.
You can find information on holds here:
https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/ua/useragreement-full#holds-limitations
While at the user agreement make sure you are not involved in any restricted activities.

Never heard of that site, but the explanation just doesn't seem like a real business. What did yo actually do to merit any compensation? My guess is the problem is with the web site. If they are a legitimat business make a phone call to find out what is going on.
