Received Brazilian currency, now what?

I received a payment for a job from a Brazilian, assuming that they would pay me in US dollars. They paid in Brazilian reais. The amount shows up in my balance, but I can't accept it or check the currency rate. It changed my over all balance, but the exchange rate is completely off (about half what it should be). What can I do? Is there someone at Paypal that I can contact about this transaction?

In your Paypal profile, you can accept or not accept foreign currency and if you do,you want to keep them as is or convert to your local currency.

there is a fee 2.5% plus conversion rate.

Thanks for the suggestion. I went into my profile (settings), but couldn't find any option related to foreign currency. Where should I look within the profile?

You can either accept it and convert to USD (and start billing your clients in USD with a PayPal invoice from now on) or bounce back the payment (deny it), send a PayPal invoice in USD for them to pay.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

That's the problem. It didn't give the option to accept and/or to convert it to USD. It just shows the balance in Brazilian reais, and it shows my balance in USD as having increased as a result. But when I do the calculation of what the exchange rate should've been, it doesn't add up. So the problem is that I don't have an option to accept/convert. Any ideas of what else I could try?

The fee/rate is much higher than other currencies,if you have seen your balance goes up,Paypal may have already done the conversion into US dollars for you.

what does the detail transaction say?
