you can download Paypal terms and agreement,it has information on sending and receiving payments.

when a sender uses goods and services, instead of friends and family to send payment, there is a fee to Paypal.

there is also foreign exchange conversion fee 2 1/2%.

when you make payment, you can choose either friends and family OR goods and services,it is available to all users.

You can also choose to send payment in local currency or foreign currency, recipient can also choose to keep foreign currency or ask Paypal to convert to local currency.

In the US, receiving personal payments is free if PayPal Balance or bank account is used and is sent within the US.  I presume it works like this in Italy too.

If you received personal payments from South America, that is cross-border payment so there is a fee no matter what and who pays the fees can be chosen by the sender.  Your friends can decide pay the fee or they make you pay it.  Look at it like this, using PayPal to send international payment is cheaper and more convenient than any other method, wouldn't you agree?  So pay the fee.  Or even discuss an arrangement with your friends of who pays the fees before sending payment.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
