Sending rmb/cny to the USA

My nephew is having a birthday soon, and I want to send him some money by way of his mother’s PayPal account. I tried to send her the money but my PayPal account doesn’t give me an option for rmb/cny dollars. Can I use HKD? Is there a way I can send money back to the USA? My PayPal account is verified with a phone number and a debit card. I hope somebody can answer this. Thanks

what country are you in and where did you open your Paypal account?

Paypal is country specific,if you open an account in that country,then your currency is local currency.

to send payment in foreign currency,you can convert ,Paypal charges 3% for conversion

or if the recipient accepts foreign currency,she can do the conversion .

she has to specify which foreign currency she would accept and if she wants conversion or keep as is.

she may also face Paypal review / withhold

Thanks for responding. I’m in Mainland china, and I opened my PayPal account in China. I don’t mind sending it in rmb/cny ( which is Chinese yuan) but my PayPal account doesn’t have an option for rmb/cny. When I attempted to send it, PayPal asked what I would like to convert it from and to, but I didn’t try it. I didn’t want to try and send it, and then have the money held up in PayPal. I was thinking about trying to send it as HKD ( Hong Kong dollars), but I didn’t want to risk it.

if you account is based in CHNA,then your currecny is Chinese yuan,yu can ask Paypal to send it in HK DOLLARS .

we are in USA,not familiar with Paypal China,your govt may have restrictions we are not aware of.
