Trying to redeem an eligible PayPal coupon on eBay, eBay says the coupon code "is not ready yet"

So I received an email a few days ago from PayPal that included a coupon: $10 off a $50 eBay purchase if you used PayPal to check out. Sounds sweet, right? Lo and behold, I go on yesterday and try to use the coupon and during the checkout process, eBay declines the coupon and says "Looks like this code isn't ready yet. Please try again later." Well, I have been trying for two straight days now and there's no end in sight. PayPal's help account on Twitter won't get back to me, PayPal's website just sends me back to a "help" page when I try and compose a message to somebody about the issue, and my patience is wearing thin. The coupon does not expire until tomorrow, 1/28/17 - it even says that in the email. Any help/tips/tricks would be greatly appreciated as PayPal themselves have been completely useless so far.

Same here.  Just tried tonight 1/28, and it's giving me the same error message.  I logged into PayPal with the right account too.  Tried removing all items and did just one item at over $50 to see if that might be it.  Same error! thx for wasting my time, **bleep** Pay Pal

I called PayPal and they said the issue most likely won’t be fixed before the coupon expires. They also said that they are trying to figure out who’s fault it is (either PayPal or eBay) and they are keeping track of who has tried to use the code and those people “could possibly” be receiving $10 from eBay or PayPal, it depends on whose fault it is for the code not working.
