PayPal refuses to fix their broken software supplying shipping label information.

In researching my fifth shipping label problem I found out the following:  If you get the ship to address from the 'Print Shipping Label' section of the PayPal site and the recipient has an apartment, the "confirmed address" will not tell you about an apartment number.  UPS will either return the package as undeliverable or figure out which apartment to deliver it to.  Either way, UPS will be charging you additional fees.  According to this Community Forum, PayPal has known about this at least since 2011.  The software that PayPal uses to populate the shipping address routinely fails to populate the report from the apartment number data that they have on file.  When I called PayPal customer support, they told me that they did not know of the problem and the complete information is included in the transaction page of my account in the details section.  I was told that because it is listed in the details section of the transaction (which is my account information), it was not their problem that I relied on the ‘Print Shipping Label’ section and that they had no liability for the returned packages unless I purchased the label through PayPal.  They would as a onetime courtesy refund my additional charges and pass the problem onto the software department.  Furthermore, because I now know of the problem and how to work around it, my account would be notated to no longer reimburse me for the charges.

If you sell something on eBay, after the payment is processed by PayPal, eBay tells you that it is time to ship the item and provides a link to the Print Shipping Label page of PayPal where the information hacks the required apartment number.  PayPal does not tell you to protect yourself from the negligent actions of PayPal, by not rely on the information from the Print Shipping Label page.

I was told that the software department fixes problems based on priorities as they relate to the overall PayPal system.  This is a known problem with their software that PayPal has refused to fix for at least 3 years. PayPal only says that they care because it must be true if they say it.  Their lack of actions speaks loudly.  Pay doesn’t care about fixing their mistakes.

Hi I use eBay and Paypal daily and I always see the apt number . Sometimes it is on a second line, sometimes on the same line as address. I have never had a packaged returned for this either, so I am confused why you are having this large issue ( and it is huge) when some others are not? I would guess you found a hole in their code and that is why it is not so easy to fix nor is it high on the list because it isn't happening to everyone . They need to compare account details with all the software / hardware you are using vs an account that is not having this issue. By the lack if other people responding you fell into the black hole in the software that randomly gets opened. Just a thought to help you help them debug the issue you are seeing which sounds like a nightmare if it were my issue. I just can't get their card readers to read any cards so thank goodness it was for a garage sale and not running a business. They sent me 5 card readers 😀😜😝 silly huh? I wish you well and will watch your issue out curiosity. Regards liz
