Guidance on approval expectations for PayPal credit application

Hi. I'm slowly rebuilding my FICO score after a major life event decimated it. I'm currently in the low 600s and am very gun shy about hard hits so don't apply for products I'm unlikely to qualify for. I would like to have the flexiblity associated with PayPal credit and I like that the initial amount is so low...seems somewhat tailored to someone trying to rebuild credit (although I realize they don't report in the same way as cards do to the bureaus). I guess my questions boil down to:

1) is the application a hard hit on your report?

2) is there a minimum FICO score or other threshhold(s) below which there's little chance of approval for credit?

Thanks for your interest.

Recommendation:  don't get obsesses with requirements for PayPal Credit.  It will only lead to disappointment, really.

Rather focus on builing your own credit ratings AND financial base.  There are simple ways to do this:

NO LATE PAYMENTS on anything.

Establish bank savings and checking accounts.

Get a store credit card account, use it once, make the payment, and then don't use it again.

A couple months later, get a credit card from your bank.  Use it a couple times, make the payments in full, and then put it aside.

It takes time and the slightest missstep can cause a crash.

Back to PayPal Credit, the reason not to obsess over it is that, even if approved, you will not likely be able to use it.  A hard credit report is not likely to matter.  PPC will report bad credit.

Even without a specific application for PPC it will be offered at time of purchase when all qualifications are met.  PPC wants to make money on extending credit; that's their business.  PPC isn't in the business to help someone improve credit score.  So, get your score up.  As your credit score goes up you will get other credit offerings.  Get a credit card when you can; keep the account open, and then don't use it.  Using credit for an emergency will not help your credit score.

Hi, I applied with a fairly low CS and was approved, and yes, they pull your credit report, for my application they used Trans Union.
