Hi,
I placed an order on lightinthebox.com on 17th March, via the mobile version of their website. The product page stated that shipping was 3-4 business days.
The total order value, including shipping charges (£10.51) and shipping insurance (£2.79) was £147.13.
Having placed my order, I received an email confirmation, and a link to track my order. After a couple of days, I clicked on the link to check progress, and the website stated that the anticiapted shipping date was 30th March. I emailed them, querying why there was such a delay, when the product description clearly stated 3-4 days; they said that on their website, above the 'Add to Cart' button, there is a 'Processing Time'. I checked the product page again, thinking I'd missed this. However, on the mobile site, there is no reference to processing time. I told them I thought this ws very misleading.
The parcels actually arrived this morning via UPS - and came with in import invoice for an additional £46.65 - the parcels had been sent from Hong Kong. I am aware of import duties, and have been careful when making online purchases to check for any indication of where the products are ebing sent from; again, no mention of this on the lightinthebox website. Although they describe themselves as an international company, the stated shipping of 3-4 working days led me to believe that the items I was ordering were being sent from the UK. I have been through the product pages in detail to check whether there was any indication the products were being sent from overseas; there isn't.
I'm obviously frustrated that the items took longer to arrive than I first expected, however I'm fuming about having to pay an additional 25% on top of the original cost, when there was no indication on the website that the items were coming from abroad, or that additonal charges may be incurred.
My question is, do I have any hope of being able to claim back the £46.65, on the basis that lightinthebox do not state anywhere that the items were being sent from Hong Kong?
Thanks,
John.
