What has  happened?

I used to live in Germany and had a Paypal account there. That account has been dormant for over 6 years with 100 dollars in it.

I recieved a mail on Saturday stating that One Touch has been activated in that account. It had been so long since I logged in that I couldn't remember the login info and the phone number was an old number that I'd forgotten so I basically had to wait till Monday morning, today to call and get in.

During this wait I recieved 3 mails stating that One Touch had been activated and a mail that a payment of 5 dollars has been made.

I got into my account this morning with a new password and the One Touch wasn't active.

Why is it that someone keeps activating it and switching it off?

Why was only a 5 dollar transaction made and not more?

Is it some kind of Malware?

Hi @eggnchips,

I'm sorry to hear about the unauthorized activity!

Were you able to find the $5 transaction? If there was no transaction as described in the email, it's possible that the email was a fake. You can take a look at this page for tips about how to identify if an email is real or not.

If the transaction is there in your activity, that would be unauthorized activity in your account which should be reported using these steps. If you have any difficulty with the reporting form, make sure you contact customer support for assistance. You can reach customer support by Facebook, Twitter, or phone or email.

I hope this is resolved swiftly!
