PayPal as a payment security

When making reservations, credit card number is used for securing payment. Can PayPal be used as security for hotels and other services that actually will be paid upon using the service?

Use your credit card - then it's straight forward - if there's an issue - contact your card issuer.

Snow-Cat, thanks for rapid reply. Issue is that my credit card number was misused yesterday and I was compelled to close it. My question remains: is there any way out to use PayPal for reservation security?

I'm on road and I'll receive the new credit card only in three weeks. Now my conclusion is that PayPal cannot be used in reservations for security.
