PayPal eCheck Fraud - meezote

I had an unauthorized transaction in my bank account this evening. The description is PayPal eCheck with the apparent username “meezote” attached. Transaction ID was “PaypalEC88”. I have no such activity in my PayPal account details. I can not locate any such user called “meezote” anywhere through various searches. Have reported to my bank’s fraud/claims department. What else can I do or should I do to prevent this in the future?

This just happened to be also with an echeck charge saying origin ID PAYPALEC88 that took $400 out of my bank but it's not appearing on my PayPal activity. What ended up happening with yours? Its technically still "pending" in my bank account so no one will do anything yet.

Hey everyone,

I'm sorry to hear about the unrecognized eCheck transactions - that can definitely be frustrating. An eCheck is a form of payment using a bank account that typically takes 5-7 business days to complete. This can happen if you are using a bank you've recently added (which doesn't have much history in our system), if you have any transactions processing at once, or if you're sending a large dollar payment (especially if it's out of the ordinary for your usual transactions).

If the amount correlates with a transaction you initiated, then it should be completed within that time. If you don't recognize it, you can report the transaction through your PayPal account using the steps listed here, or contact your bank to see what options they have regarding the charge.

Hopefully this information helps! Have a great rest of your day.
