Can I collect conference fees with PayPal?

I am part of a group organizing a conference of between 2,000 and 10,000 people in August 2014 in Ottawa. We want to collect conference registration fees online and we'd like to gather registrants names and contact information as the same time. Eventbrite will not pay out money gathered until after the event and this would cause serious cash flow problems for us. Is it possible to both collect conference registration fees and registrant data (eg names, emails, addresses, etc.) via PayPal?

Yes.

Note, depending on how much data you plan to gather, you may have to manually create the item button code.  The online button creator has limitations when it comes to text input type fields.  (It is limtied to two text input fields - if you will need more two text input fields, you will have to manually create your code.)

Thanks for this snowshoe. Would it be possible to create a contact page with the PayPal button on it with the contact page gathering name, address, email and amount paid before sending the request to PayPal? I.E. just how much coding would be needed as I'm not a programmer, but have used Wordpress and basic HTML to produce contact pages on Wordpress sites. The site I'm looking at doing this for however is a SquareSpace site.
