Limiting Embedded Purchase Button to US only

Title says it all. Can I limit my buyers to the US only on a button I use on my site to sell a product? If so, how?

I will sell and ship outside the US but I want to invoice those buyers so the postage is correct.  I have US only next to the button but I just had someone outside the US buy my item.  When I refund them, I loose some money.

Thanks,

Hi coyotedatacom,

Thanks for reaching out to us here, and welcome to the community!

That is a good question. U.S. Business/Premier account holders have the option to block payments from Non-U.S. accounts.

To block payments from Non-U.S. accounts, please follow these directions:

  1. Go to the PayPal website and log in to your account.
  2. Click Profile at the top of the page.
  3. Click My selling tools.
  4. Click the Getting paid and managing risk.
  5. Click Update beside "Block payments."
  6. Check the box next to Have non-U.S. PayPal accounts under "Block Payments from users who:"
  7. Click Save.

The downside to this...it is all or nothing. So, if you do invoice a buyer with an international account, then you would need to remove the block in order to receive their payment. There is no way to block for a certain button, or allow international payments for invoices only. If you are expecting a lot of international volume, you may want to consider opening a separate account for international payments.

I hope this helps!
