Email Notifications Language settings??

Hi Folks,

I wonder if one of you wonderful people might be able to help me.  My mother in law lives in france but is english speaking, her pay pal account is all set up in english and using it isnt a problem, but if ever she is sent a notification like "the supplier has posted your item" she gets it in french and so can't make out the critical details.

 

Is there any way to change the notification language settings so that everything Pay Pal sends her is in English, depsite her French IP address?

Hi there Vocals316,

 

It sounds to me that your mother in law's PayPal account is set up in English but her eBay account may be in French. If your mother in law's PayPal account is in English but she is receiving a notification advising that the supplier has shipped the item, it may be a notification sent by eBay.

 

You should ask your mother in law to check her eBay: www.ebay.co.uk and PayPal account's in order to see what countries that the accounts are registered in. If her PayPal account was opened in the UK, it should show all the aspects of her account and notifications in English. If she has a French PayPal account, she could see all aspects of her account in English and this would also send any email notifications in English also.

 

If it is her eBay account that is registered in France, you should ask her to try and contact eBay by clicking the 'Help' icon at the top of the page in order for them to be able to assist her in updating her notifications on her eBay account.

Hi, I have a similar problem, I am in Spain but I am british and have a UK paypal account. If I send someone a payment then you send me an email notification in Spanish, why do you do this? I have not asked for this, its no use to me. How can it be changed? It is nothing to do with Ebay.

I have been using PayPal for several years. I am norwegian in Norway, but all my settings are english. I have always received email notifications in english, but now suddenly they appear in Norwegian.

 

I have not asked for this, and it makes no sence as my customers are all foreign. Please advise how I can get back english language notifcation emails.

Can PayPal please look at this thread and offer a solution?

 

I also registered in UK for PP and eBay but receive my emails in Japanese.

 

It's ridiculous that there isn't a language preference option in account settings - its easy enough for PP to set up and there's no reason not to.

 

Come on PayPal...

I am a new user of PP. I opened an account in PP yesterday, and today I've being trying to make a transference from my bank account, but it asks me for an email of PP. Does anybody can tell me how to get it?

Same here. I have an Italian PayPal account but I speak English. I changed language preference to English. Everything is in English now except PayPal promotional emails. They are in Italian language. Can I change it to English language ? So it will be easy to understand what those emails say without translating them.

 

Quoting a part of an email I received:

Un'offerta per ogni momento della tua giornata.

I need these messages in English.

Similar situation here.  Paypal is set to use English, but since we're in Sweden we get everything outside of the website (including policy updates) in Swedish.

 

What is needed is for Paypal to use the language set in the account when sending information, as opposed to based on what country you reside in.

 

Please fix this, Paypal.

We have the very same problem.

We have a restaurant in Italy and we started using PayPal to sell presales of our new year's eve event (a fixed-price menu with beverages and live music)

 

However, each time I have to send a money request and the customer doesn't have a paypal account connected to the email address, he's receiving my message in Italian instead of english, french, german, whatever...

 

It's annoying, especially when you have to deal with people that doesn't understand very much how PayPal works (and sometimes even how a computer works...)

I have the same problem. I'm totally sick of it. I have written to them at least 4 times and there is always a message back to say it will be dealt with... but never has. Now I see I'm not the only one.

There is a complete lack of logic in this situation, and especially a lack of respect that PayPal never reacts to these comments.

I wonder if we should send abusive messages to get a reaction... but that is against my values - I have more respect than they do.

 

Anyone reading this?????
