I am selling conservatory furniture on viva street for 400 pounds . I had a quick response from a rose spencer an RAF trainer Something didn't feel right so I googled the name and that's when I read on this forum that it is a scam. Thank goodness for sights like this. Who knows how much I would have lost.

I am selling a ps3 through Gumtree and got a quick reply from this person. She/he asked to communicate through my email address (which I gave), rather than Gumtree's messaging service as it was "unreliable and she had problems receiving messages". I then got the exact same email. When I read it, I suspected something was amiss so I googled the email and found this forum. Thankfully I didn't give any more details! Thank you for posting this.

I did give this bogus woman/man some details, my name and paypal email.. Tried to contact paypal but was on hold for a long time.. I quickly set up a new email, deleted the old email from my paypal and ebay account and in the hppe that my accounts cant be used fraudulently.. Didnt know what else to do to protect myself.. Makes me so mad that despite many people contacting gumtree about this person they are still free to thieve from as many as possible.. I wonder just how many end up falling for it....scary to think how many

I've just come across the same person aka Rose Spencer.

We had put our sofa suite on viva street and this person got in touch with the usual about paying through paypal etc; I sniffed her/him out and replied with the following:

My My you do get around a bit Rose Spencer aka Scott Cowdery. Have a look at our previous communication below. I suppose the asking price WOULD be ok if you gonna get the item for FREE by doing a paypal scam. I was not born yesterday you ARxEHOLE !!

All this **bleep** this impresses anyone ??

Any way if you would like to collect a free sofa you can send "your mate" to the following address:

P.S i HAVE FORWARDED THIS EMAIL TO THE POLICE AND THEY WILL BE TRACING YOU FROM YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS BY CONTACTING YOUR ISP.

So go and crawl back to the hole you came from.

I have just had this exact same reply to my ad on vivastreet. I googled it and thank the lord I found this site.  I had already emailed the scammer back and said I will not help with the payment to Western Union.  They have stopped messaging me.  I have reported it to the RAF Police at RAF St Mawgan - they are aware of this person and have confirmed that they think it is a scammer from Nigeria.  I have also reported it to vivastreet and I hope they do something about it.  I am going to be very wary now about selling things on vivastreet whereas previously I have had no problem with it at all.  I will keep checking my paypal account as the scammer now has my email address.

I cannot thank all of you guys enough iv just had contact from"Rose" or whatever its name is asking to buy my chair with exactly the same message that you've all put on here and being curious i googled the name and your forum conversation came up, you've all just saved me alot of mither. Just infuriates me absolute ***** like them think they can get away with it. Thank you all again

This person just done this to me 😞 asked me for my home address and email address I gave them it nothing more. Now I've read these comments I feel stupid 😞 I've got a 5 month old boy as well can't believe some one would do this!

I have no idea what Gumtree is...i'm selling a Mustang on Craigslist in Plantation, FL and this Rose Spencer contacted me.

She said she would be paying with Paypal. Usually a person likes to see the car and kick the tires, you know? So I asked why Paypal...she said it was safe for the both of us...still sounds sorta legit...ok.

Then she said something about having to get a mover. I asked her where she was...she said ARIZONA!!  

Then i asked her why my car so so far away. BTW...it's a 1994 Mustang GT...not anything like a super exotic car or whatever. I haven't heard from her again...maybe i will this evening. If i do, i will post. 

It was a super short email nothing weird or foreign sounding in the writing. and nothing about the RAF.but the same name Rose Spencer

Just has that exact email, luckily i posted on a forum on facebook and was told by them it was a scam, this person has been around for a while by the looks of it and shows no sign of giving up!! please beware!
